FOLLOW THE ARMY ON TWITTER

in this article, the army released its first official rules for troops in using social media, allowing them to be as open as anyone else. They obviously cant release any data that compromises a mission, but it is a huge step in allowing troops to communicate freely. It is a long way from how our grandparents could only write home every few days when they were serving. Whats Next? soldier@twitter, sign into barracks on foursquare?

  1. One of my friends is in the military and when he was in Iraq it was much easier for people to contact him via facebook, since you couldn't call him. He could only call you.

  2. Thats so great that people in the military are allowed to use public resources to contact their friends and family. Twitter and Facebook are great ways of connecting with the rest of the world... as long as they don't share military secrets!
